| Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be toxic if
taken in excessive quantities. Symptoms of vitamin A toxicity include hair
loss, liver damage, birth defects in pregnant women, and others.
Beta-carotene from plants is not toxic, although high intake (carrots, for
example) may cause your skin to take on a temporary yellowish appearance.
Vitamin A can be found in foods such as liver, carrots, cantaloupes, sweet
potatoes, spinach and egg yolks, among others. |
